Image
Yes, till date stock market has proven itself riskier than traditional investment products like fixed deposit, bonds, real estate, gold etc. Traditional investment products are widely held among all class of people and you hardly go wrong with them. At least, it holds true in Indian context. We have not seen as many of real estate market crash or banks going bankrupted and not returning investors money on fixed deposits. However, you would have heard many stock market crisis stories. You may have heard many companies stocks crashing individually even when stock market is doing fine as a whole. So, you have to be more cautious while investing in stock market. Do a proper research before investing your money in stock market.    I would like to highlight few related things on this topic. What is bitcoin? is it a riskier option for investment...

Image
What is a Bitcoin? Bitcoin is a form of digital currency, created and held electronically. No one controls it. Bitcoins aren’t printed, like dollars or euros – they’re produced by people, and increasingly businesses, running computers all around the world, using software that solves mathematical problems. It’s the first example of a growing category of money known as cryptocurrency. What makes it different from normal currencies? Bitcoin can be used to buy things electronically. In that sense, it’s like conventional dollars, euros, or yen, which are also traded digitally. However, bitcoin’s most important characteristic, and the thing that makes it different to conventional money, is that it is decentralized. No single institution controls the bitcoin network. This puts some people at ease, because it means that a large bank can’t control their money. Who created it? A software developer called Satoshi Nakamoto proposed bi...

iOS 11 turns your iPad into a completely different machine

Image
iOS has been around for 10 years. It’s hard to keep innovating after so many iterations. And yet, in many ways, iOS 11 feels like a completely new beast on the iPad. For the first time in years, it feels like Apple is taking risks with its operating system update. I’ve been playing with a beta version of iOS 11 on a 10.5-inch iPad Pro for the past few weeks. While the final version of iOS 11 is not coming until later this fall, Apple just launched the public beta. Here’s a preview of what you can expect. If you’re using an iPad, get ready to be disoriented by the update because the iPad simply doesn’t work the same way. Apple has completely changed the user experience with a big emphasis on multi-tasking. Everything seems more fluid and connected. For instance, you can drag and drop app files between multiple apps, drag an icon from the newly introduced dock to open a windowed app on top of your full-screen app and more. More importantly, if you were using an iPad a few year...

Tech Tip: Converting Pictures Into Words You Can Process

Image
Q. With my iPhone I copied numerous documents, many of which are in typewritten Hebrew, and now I have JPG files. I want to convert these into text files and translate them. How do I accomplish this? Or is there another way to do this? A. Optical-character recognition (O.C.R.) software is commonly used to covert pictures or scans of the original material into text files that you can edit, format and use with a word-processing program. O.C.R. software analyzes the shape of the letters on the page and coverts the visual information into live text. To convert images of Hebrew characters, you need an O.C.R. program that can recognize the Hebrew alphabet. Google Translate is one online source for converting text between languages, but as with most software translation, accuracy may vary. Credit The New York Times  There are a few commercial O.C.R. programs available that list Hebrew as a supported language, including Readiris ($100 for Mac, iOS and Windows; a free trial is av...

Image
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his rival Raila Odinga are both confident of winning the General Election. Speaking after casting his vote at Mutomo Primary School in Gatundu South Constituency, President Kenyatta said that he is confident that he will beat Mr Odinga, saying he believes that he has run a campaign that was sufficient to convince the electorate to re-elect him. He reiterated that after casting their votes, Kenyans should go home and wait for the announcement of the results. Mr Odinga too was confident of winning, saying he has only prepared one speech, that of victory. He told his supporters to go to Uhuru Park later in the day after voting to wait for the counting of the votes at the end of the tallying exercise. “We will all go to Uhuru Park at 6pm to wait for the counting of the votes,” he said. President Kenyatta, who addressed the media after casting his vote at shortly before midday said he was positive about the whole exercise. “I fee...
